Fukuoka is the largest and most developed city on Kyushu, Japan's third-largest island. It is an important destination for international travelers and a common gateway for exploring Kyushu, thanks to its large international airport. It is also a rail hub connecting to other major cities in Japan, such as Tokyo and Osaka.
Fukuoka's climate is humid subtropical, with clearly distinct seasons, similar to Osaka. Temperatures average around 15-20°C during spring and autumn, making these the best times to visit. Rain falls throughout the year, though it is heaviest in summer. In winter, snow rarely falls, and when it does, it is light and doesn't last long. Nighttime temperatures are cold but rarely drop below freezing. In summer, daytime temperatures can rise above 30°C.
