Many people have seen photos of a red multi-tiered pagoda with Mount Fuji in the background. That viewpoint is Chureito Pagoda, a famous Mount Fuji viewpoint located on a hillside not far from Lake Kawaguchiko.
To get to Chureito Pagoda, take the train to Shimoyoshida Station, a small station about 4 stops from Kawaguchiko Station. From here, it's about 500 meters on foot to the stairway up to the pagoda. Follow the photos below and you won't get lost.

When you exit Shimoyoshida Station, turn right and walk straight along the road.
After walking straight along the road for about 100 meters, you'll reach a railway crossing. After crossing it, follow the road as it curves to the right.

Then walk straight along the road for about 100 meters; houses will line both sides of the street.
Then you'll reach a three-way intersection; turn left.
Continue walking straight along the road; don't turn right under the expressway yet.
When you reach the intersection shown in the photo, walk straight onto the road that passes under the expressway.
Then keep walking straight; both sides of the road will be open space with a long white railing.
When you reach this intersection, turn right following the route in the photo.
After turning right, walk straight for about 25 meters and you'll see the stairway up to the pagoda on your right. Climb from this point — about 400 steps — to reach Chureito Pagoda on the mountain.
