Mount Moiwa

Mount Moiwa

Mount Moiwais one of the small mountains in the forest to the southwest of central Sapporo, and it's one of the city's most popular spots. The mountain is well known for its stunning viewpoint over the city. Reaching the summit is easy, even for families with young children, since visitors can take a ropeway up to about three-quarters of the mountain's height, then transfer to a mini cable car to reach the summit station. At the top, there is an observation deck, the restaurant "The Jewel" with panoramic views of Sapporo, a planetarium, and a theater. The view is especially breathtaking from sunset onward. Once you visit, you'll want to come back. If you want to spend more time here, consider staying nearby, such as at the Mount Moiwa ski resort on the mountain's southeastern slope, an easy trip from Sapporo.
