Mount Yotei is often called the "Fuji of Hokkaido." It is located in the Niseko area of Hokkaido. The nickname comes from its conical shape, which looks like a smaller Mount Fuji. The mountain is one of the town's most famous landmarks, but Niseko has much more to offer than Mount Yotei alone. The town is also well known as a ski resort area. The ski areas, known as Niseko United, sit on Mount Niseko Annupuri just outside the town center. They are divided into four zones: Annupuri, Niseko Village, Grand Hirafu, and Hanazono, each offering excellent skiing.
In the Grand Hirafu zone, the village of Hirafu sits right next to the slopes and has a visitor center. Hirafu sits between Mount Niseko Annupuri and Mount Yotei, so on clear summer days you can get a good view of both mountains. For a place to stay with great scenery, consider Rusutsu Ski Resort.
