Sapporo Clock Tower is considered a symbol of Sapporo city. No trip to Sapporo is complete without a stop here. The building was built in 1878, in the early days of Sapporo's development, on the grounds of what was then Sapporo Agricultural College. The clock mechanism was purchased from Boston. Today, the tower is a museum open to the public. Inside, exhibits cover the history of the building, spread across two floors. The first floor focuses on stories, trivia, and the history of Sapporo, while the second floor displays exhibits about the clock itself. There is also a spacious hall used for various ceremonies. It's a great first stop before exploring the rest of Sapporo.
