Is the JR TOKYO Wide Pass still worth it after the latest price update?
JR TOKYO Wide Pass lets you travel around Tokyo and also reach GALA Yuzawa, a famous ski resort in Japan. It also covers many other interesting destinations, such as Mt. Fuji, Izu, and Karuizawa, and includes travel from Haneda and Narita airports into central Tokyo.
However, the route between Echigo-Yuzawa Station and GALA Yuzawa Station only operates during certain periods, so check the train schedule before heading there for skiing or sightseeing.
* This pass can only be used on JR trains. It cannot be used on the Tokyo Metro subway or city buses in Tokyo, so it is best suited for trips to destinations around Tokyo.
* The new post-pandemic JR Pass format is no longer a booklet that requires you to go through the staffed gate. Instead, it works like a regular train ticket that you insert into the automatic ticket gate. Just remember to take it back from the machine.

Restrictions on the JR TOKYO Wide Pass
- Cannot be used on the Tokaido Shinkansen or JR buses

- For the Fujikyu Railway, an additional ticket is required to ride the Fujisan View Express and the Fuji Tozan Densha
